Biomechanical Assessment

Biomechanical assessment of the foot and lower limb examines the forces and effects of those forces on and within the human body. A comprehensive biomechanical evaluation of the foot and lower limb allows our Podiatrists to determine if any mechanical elements are contributing to the presenting problem. In addition to this a biomechanical assessment allows our Podiatrist to determine the correct treatment which can involve:

  • Foot orthoses (see ‘prescription orthotic therapy’)
  • Modification or changes to footwear
  • Foot mobilization
  • Selection of appropriate footwear
  • Activity modification
  • Rehabilitation exercises
